Pineapples: Stable Whole Plant Food Energy Source

“Pineapples are a nutrient-dense tropical fruit that provides a ton of health benefits, yet it’s still low in overall calories!”

Fred Bisci, Your Healthy Journey

Pineapples provide minerals/vitamins, natural plant fiber, and whole sugars and have over 80 nutrients. It is a tropical fruit, naturally loaded with vitamin C, but it also contains a special anti-inflammatory called bromelain.

Pineapples have Bromelain which has long been known to contain powerful proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzymes, which are beneficial in digestive, reducing brain inflammation and many other systemic inflammations from athletic/performance activities.

Pineapples can help manage sports/event injuries and is being used to speed recovery time. Pineapples are a way for athletes to utilize plant based foods as part of their training protocol.

Pineapples are a good supply a stable whole plant food sugar energy utilization.

Pineapple is a source of the trace mineral- manganese and a good source of vitamin B1- thiamin, which are essential cofactors in a number of enzymes important in energy production and antioxidant defenses.

Pineapple contains fiber which can help to prevent constipation and will promote regularity and a healthy digestive tract.

Pineapple is a good source of the amino acid tryptophan, which is used by the body to produce serotonin, one of good mood hormones and helps support the neurological system for healthy brain function and energy.

SO WHO IS FRED ANYWAY??

Fred Bisci, author, “Your Healthy Journey”, Head of the Spartan Race Nutritional/Lifestyle Advisory Board, has successfully worked with amateur, elite, professional and extreme athletes. He has been a tenacious athlete completing eighteen marathons, two ultra-marathons. He also has a history as a Navy boxing champ, has successfully competed in Olympic-style weight lifting, and still leads an athletic life. Fred, born 1929, has lived on 100% raw plant foods for over 50 years and is a lifestyle/longevity coach, food scientist; detox/fasting expert and clinical nutritionist. He offers a natural, simple, common sense approach by showing people a well-grounded experience to the healing power, peak athletic performance and remedial capabilities of the human body.

FACTS: Fruit, Cancer, Disease, Upper GI Tract, Brain Function Part 2

Can I eat fruit if I have cancer or any other disease conditions? Part 2

“People have indigestion, which is really a rotting fermentation process taking place in the upper GI tract, for years.”

Fred Bisci, Your Healthy Journey

Everything that is going through your mouth is absorbed through the villi of the intestines and especially through the upper GI tract (2nd brain). We just have to keep in mind what happens when people have cancer, eat fruit and they don’t have a clean GI tract. The sugars will actually stir up more of a problem in the upper GI tract (2nd brain), because it causes more fermentation which adds to the existing fermentation. This cycle can go on for years until your body starts expressing dysfunction or illness.

It’s a little different than most people would expect, and fruit is definitely OK for a healthy person who is moving their bowels correctly and has a clean GI tract. (ARE MY BOWELS MOVING CORRECTLY?)

There’s no way in the world that fruit is going to cause cancer for healthy people. The latest research is showing that actually the most powerful antioxidants are in the stone fruits. Watch out, pharmaceutical companies are going to start bottling this stuff!

When I work with someone’s lifestyle who has cancer, I certainly don’t encourage them to eat fruit, but not for reasons related to blood sugar.  IGF-1 and 2 are insulin-like growth factors which enable a normal cell to divide and multiply and that includes the cancer cell. Surges in your blood sugar cause cells, normal and cancerous to promote growth.  That’s why a lot of body builders now are using insulin because if you use more insulin, you’re actually promoting in a healthy person more division and growth of cells. I do not advocate this approach because if you were really healthy, you would not need this method.

When you are living Your Healthy Journey strength, endurance and coordination are the healthy side effects. But the side effects of continual use of insulin has a good and bad effect because you will get growth of healthy cells and potentially down the road you are promoting the growth of cancerous cells. This can take place anywhere in your body!

Traditional science points this out very clearly, even in IPT, which is Insulin Potentiated Therapy where they give a person that has cancer insulin to drive their blood sugar down, maybe down to 40. Then they give them glucose and 10% of a chemotrophic drug. I know a doctor that does this method and claims he gets good results. I have never spoken with people that have received this approach but again it’s not a cure.

Years ago, some of the best results I saw with cancer were people that were actually including some fruit but they had a strong foundational lifestyle, Your Healthy Journey, they were doing lots of colonics, enemas, detoxification and cleanses and taking high-quality probiotics.

I also recommend that you supply your body with green foods, systemic and digestive enzymes and our Detox Formula, Miror EPF. Right now, the answer is, leave out the fruit till you’re fully aware what’s happening within your body and your GI tract. We all need to ask ourselves, daily, what’s happening in my body, what constitutes a healthy lifestyle, what am I doing that is promoting cancer growth or what can I do as a form of prevention. It’s Your Healthy Journey!

Mangoes: The King of Fruits

“Mangoes, the king of fruits, is delicious and is the most widely consumed fruit in the world with optimum health benefits!”

Fred Bisci, Your Healthy Journey

Mangoes help the lowering of blood sugar and regular consumption has a positive effect on blood glucose.

Mangoes are a food rich in magnesium and potassium as well as low in sodium which is another natural way to lower blood pressure.

Mangoes have vitamin B6, which is essential for maintaining and improving brain function. Mangoes with its Vitamin B6 and other B vitamins are crucial for maintaining healthy brain neurotransmitters supporting a healthy mood as well as healthy sleep patterns.

Mangoes have the antioxidant zeaxanthin which works to filter out harmful blue light rays, thereby playing a protective role in eye health as well as possibly protecting against age-related macular degeneration. Age-related macular degeneration destroys the part of the eye that provides sharp, central vision necessary for seeing clearly.

Mangoes have bone-building vitamin K which is important for proper calcium absorption and bone health. Mangoes have calcium, which is a major bone nutrient.

Mangoes have high amounts of pectin, a soluble fiber that can help naturally lower cholesterol levels in the blood. Mangoes have potassium and B vitamins which help support a healthy heart and circulatory system.

Mangoes can help slow the process of natural aging due to their amounts of vitamins A and C, which help produce collagen proteins within the body. Collagen is known to help slow down the skin’s natural aging process by protecting blood vessels and bodily connective tissue.

FACTS: Fruit, Cancer, Disease, Upper GI Tract, Brain Function Part 1

Can I eat fruit if I have cancer or any other disease conditions? Part 1

“My personal belief is all disease, including cancer, really begins in the GI tract” Fred Bisci

The answer is no, but not for the reason most people think.  Most people think that when you’re eating fruit, the organic whole sugars are going to make you more vulnerable by feeding the cancer.  That’s not really true unless you’re a diabetic. If your blood sugar is between 70 and 80, and it’s under 140 two hours after you eat, it’s not really going to have an effect on your cancer.

The reason why people are thinking this is because they’re looking at what Otto Warburg said when he won a Nobel Peace Prize. Of course, what Otto Warburg said is basically true, that a cancer cell is an anaerobic cell and it doesn’t utilize oxygen. That’s why doctors think you have to kill a cancer cell.  There are a lot of people out there in the nutritional field that I think really don’t understand the nature of cancer.  I don’t want to sound arrogant in any way, but they really don’t understand it.

My personal belief is that all disease, including cancer, really begins in the upper GI tract and most people are focused on the lower GI tract, which is very important. But they need to focus on the upper GI tract – where there are 16 to 20 feet of intestines with all kinds of folds.  Your upper GI tract is like a second brain.  It has a tremendous effect on your whole chemistry and can influence your brain.

A lot of people, even if they’re moving their bowels three times a day, are really suffering from constipation of the upper GI tract, because what you ate four or five days ago is just finally coming out today. It’s passing through the upper GI tract very slowly. When that happens, you’ve got a real problem – especially if you’re eating meat, and especially if you’re eating meat that has hormones, added chemicals, and pesticides from whatever’s in the animal feed.  Even methane gas is transferred from the upper GI tract into your blood through the villi. A lot of people have this indigestion, which is really a rotting fermentation process taking place in the upper GI tract, for years. This is why it is so important to look at your lifestyle, Your Healthy Journey, so your body can follow through with the natural process of detox and cleansing. To support this process, I also recommend that you supply your body with some high-quality enzymes, probiotics and Miror EPF.

Lentils: Hassle-Free, High Nutritional Value & a Beneficial Plant Food!

“LENTILS”

“Lentils are a hassle-free compliment, with a high nutritional value that anyone can benefit living a plant based lifestyle!”

Fred Bisci, Your Healthy Journey

Lentils, especially sprouted lentils, contain all the essential amino acids (PLANT PROTEINS) that are needed by our body for repair and growth for good muscle-building and smooth functioning and performance of the body.

Lentils add essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber to a plant-based lifestyle, while also providing plant protein. When animal meat, a major source of saturated and trans fats ( animal products contains over 80% nitrogenous waste) is replaced with a higher fiber food like lentils, the risk for heart degeneration is decreased. The potassium, calcium, and magnesium in lentils have been found to help decrease blood pressure naturally.

Lentils have selenium which prevents inflammation, may prevent abnormal cell formation and improve immune response to infection by stimulating production of killer T-cells. It also plays a role in liver enzyme function and helps detoxify some carcinogen-causing compounds in the body.

Lentils, with their negligible amounts of fat, are an ideal source of protein without adding any extra fat to the body, thereby promoting a healthy heart. Lentils contain magnesium, which helps in relaxing cardiovascular muscles. Lentils provide a supply of antioxidants that decreased the chances of developing plaque buildup in arteries and play a role in neutralizing free radicals, preventing cell and gene damage (aging).

Lentils are a good source of many vitamins, including vitamin B3, which plays a significant role in improving the digestive and nervous systems. Vitamin B3 offers many other benefits, including cholesterol control, a decreased risk of neurological, osteoarthritis, and blood sugar dysfunction.

Lentils increase steady, slow-burning energy due its fiber and complex carbohydrates. Lentils are also a great non-heme source of iron, which transports oxygen throughout your body and is key to energy production, metabolism, and athletic performance.

Lentils are rich in plant-based fiber, both the soluble and insoluble type. Soluble fiber forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract that catches bile (which contains cholesterol) and eliminates it out of the body. Insoluble fiber helps to increase stool bulk while preventing constipation and helps prevent digestive disorders.

FACTS: Allopathic, Diet/Nourishment, Lifestyle & Disease

FACTS: Is the allopathic community becoming more aware of the connection between diet/nourishment, lifestyle, and disease?

I don’t think so.  I do see doctors that are becoming more holistic or integrative medical types but they don’t advocate what I think is a great dietary/nourishing plant-based lifestyle. What they’re really doing is substituting nutraceuticals for pharmaceuticals.  People come in to see me taking 80, 90, 100 supplements. Although, I do recommend probiotics, enzymes, Miror EPF and GreenFoods, taking a lot of supplements is not necessary. If a plant-based lifestyle (Your Healthy Journey) is lived properly, this can be achieved without doing it that way. Plus when you’re taking a lot of supplements, you’re overworking your body by stimulating it which requires more energy and eventually there will be a letdown. This is just like the addiction that I talk about that takes place with processed foods.

A friend of mine saw some very well-known person on television the other day who said that he had the answer to living forever. This person was taking 120 vitamin supplements.  Well, I hope this person is right for their sake but that’s not the way I look at it to be perfectly honest with you.

I think we’ve got to point science in the right direction to support the body’s function in a healthy way rather than the way they’re doing it now.  I’m sure everybody that’s involved in doing things the right way wants to see this happen; we need the research to support optimal and efficient health and lifestyle longevity. The quick fix doesn’t work and it never will!

When people become educated they’ll know what to do and they won’t need these nutraceutical substitutes. They’ll be able to stay away from a lot of these pills and pharmaceuticals and really enjoy their life in its highest form – simply.

SESAME SEEDS: Build Strong Bones, Help Sleep, Improve Digestion, Reduce Inflammation!

“SESAME SEEDS”

“Sesame seeds, often overlooked, build strong bones, protect against radiation, increase heart health, help sleep, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, boost respiratory health and detoxify the body. I use the seeds them in my fruit smoothie and sesame seed butter in my salad!”
Fred Bisci, Your Healthy Journey

Sesame seeds and sesame oil have phytoestrogen activity and powerful cholesterol-lowering effects. Sesame seeds rank highest in cholesterol-lowering phytosterols (Phytosterols are plant sterols structurally similar to cholesterol that act in the intestine to lower cholesterol absorption.)of nearly all nuts, seeds, legumes and grains.

Sesame seeds taken by healthy adults has shown positive effects on total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, LDL-to-HDL cholesterol ratios and antioxidant status. Sesame oil is considered an antihypertensive and can help normalize blood pressure levels, decrease lipid peroxidation and increase antioxidants.

Sesame seed ingestion has a healthy effect on blood lipids and antioxidant status in adult women that positively impacted sex hormones. Sesamin, a sesame lignan, was shown to be converted by intestinal microflora to enterolactone, a phytoestrogen compound with a healthy estrogen-like activity.

Sesame seeds are a rich source of mammalian lignan precursors, similar to whole flaxseeds. The mammalian lignans called enterolactone and enterodiol are produced by the microflora in the colon and may prevent abnormal cell formation.
Sesame seeds are beneficial to your metabolism and the body’s fat-burning abilities and support important liver mechanisms. They can increase burning fat by improving the activity of several liver enzymes that actually work to break down fatty acids.

Sesame seeds active ingredients are used by several fat-burning or bodybuilding supplements. However, of course, it’s always better to obtain benefits from the real whole food and skip the processed and potentially dangerous pills!

Sesame seeds essential fats/oils support antioxidant activity and help the absorption of vitamin E and other phytochemicals. Sesame seed fatty acids help absorb fat-soluble nutrients, including vitamin A, vitamin D and many types of antioxidants. Include sesame seeds, sesame oil or sesame butter with a nutrient-dense meal to help you absorb and use these nutrients.
