“At that point in my life I was already married with children, a full time father and had two careers in my life besides my nutritional practice. I had to find a way to train smart without spending too much time working out all the time.”
“During my first couple of marathons I ran I was still not getting enough calories, I thought I was but I wasn’t.”
“But when I started to get enough calories I started to fly through the marathons. I also did some cross training. I used to ride my bike and I had a friend, a young guy, who could have been my oldest grandchild, who always wanted to go for a bike ride. At that time, I didn’t ride that much but one day he asked me to take a bike ride. I was not a kid but he showed no mercy. We biked from the Staten Island, NY. to Flemington, NJ. which was 90 miles round trip and it was 90 degrees that day. I wasn’t really training at that level but I was feeling real good and I finished strong!!”
