FACTS: Raw Living Vegan Lifestyle!

Why do you recommend a raw living vegan lifestyle? Fred Bisci

Born, 1929, at 88 years of age, I’ve been doing it myself for over 60 years, although I have been eating a plant-based lifestyle my whole life because that’s how my mother prepared our meals but I know how miraculous it can be and what it can do to alleviate the aging process and keep you healthy to a very advanced age. I believe it to be the best lifestyle for a person that understands it and is willing to commit to it for the remainder of their lifetime. The commitment is key because I have seen too many people following a raw living food vegan lifestyle for years and then go back – and a lot of them had a disastrous experience. I encourage people to make the transition gradually and then to stay with it. Take a look at my book, Your Healthy Journey, it will show you how to do it. So, once you have committed to a vegan lifestyle, there’s no going back to eating animal protein because is not a wise thing to do; it can cause disease and even premature death. This is why you must make the changes in a transitional way so you can stay on your journey the rest of your life.

How long until I see changes when I start juicing, living on raw living vegan meals and supplements? Fred Bisci

Everybody is a biochemical individual. I can’t tell you how long it’s going to take. It might take some people months. Another person might see changes much more quickly, especially if they’re doing a lot of cleanses, going for colonics or doing enemas, going on a supervised fast, doing juice cleanses and taking the enzymes, probiotics, GreenFood powders and Miror EPF.

FACTS: Best Sugar or Sugar Bad!

What is the best sugar alternative?  Why is sugar bad for you? Fred Bisci

Refined Sugar is the ultimate junk food.  It’s very acid forming.  It’s just empty calories.  It’s addictive.  It just does not contribute anything that’s beneficial to the human body.  If you’re eating a predominate raw living food lifestyle, you really don’t need a sugar substitute.  I use them very, very rarely. My lifestyle is simple; it basically revolves around a variety of fruits, vegetables, juices, raw salads, nuts, seeds, avocados, and sprouts.  I eat sprouts just about every day and I include seaweeds in my life. I believe in eating a variety of different raw foods and it’s also very good to rotate your foods.

We’ve got to realize that sugars and fats don’t work well in the same meal. (food combinations are important) About 20 years ago when I was distance training for marathons I ate plenty of fruit to give me the energy and I also drank juices to increase my caloric intake.  I realized you can’t eat fat and sugar in the same meal, so for about a three-month period I didn’t eat any fat and I experimented to see how much whole sugars I could include from fruit.

I was so energized because I was exercising so much, I probably had a lot of insulin in my blood and had a lot of whole sugars as well. My energy levels were absolutely unbelievable.  In fact, my wife thought something was wrong with me one day because I actually tried to see how long I could run up and down stairs. I ran 22 steps running up and down from my deck from ground level and back for almost six hours. All I did was sip on a little bit of fruit juice with a little bit of celery in it. The reason I stopped is not that I got tired; I stopped because it got dark out. I did not want to fall down the stairs.

Then I completely stopped eating the fruit and I switched to eating fat.  I started by eating a half of an avocado because after all that fruit I could only eat no more than half an avocado, it wouldn’t feel good. If I ate more than that, I would feel a little lightheaded, a little nauseous, I’d have cramps in my fingertips. So, over a period of about three or four months, I gradually increased the fat, to the point where I was eating six avocados a day. It takes approximately two weeks for your body to start to switch from burning sugar for fuel to burning fat to convert to glucose as fuel and I was able to do that. So, it can be done if you had to but it’s not the best way to live a daily lifestyle and for me, it was just a self-experiment.

My clear conclusions were that the amount of fruit that you’re eating should be based on the amount of exercise that you’re doing.  If you’re not exercising, then you certainly don’t need a lot of fruit.  If you’re a sedentary person, you can have more than enough walking around energy not eating any fruit and you won’t be bone-thin either. The main thing if you’re eating a balanced plant-based lifestyle is to get plenty of leafy, green vegetables, and you’ve got to make sure that you’re doing that!

” It’s a good idea to rotate your foods because having variety and a different whole food plant-based choice at each meal is important. The strength of the consistency of the fruits and vegetables will act as a buffer and an antidote to assist with detox and cleansing.”

FACTS: Green Smoothies vs. Green Juices & Fermented Foods!

Green Smoothies vs. Green Juice – which is better and why? Fred Bisci

I have experienced and seen they both serve two completely different purposes. The green juice is a very powerful alkali and it gets into your system and absorbs into the bloodstream very quickly.  It helps reduce inflammation and provide additional nutrients, and it’s useful in situations where people can’t masticate well.

I also encourage people to use smoothies made in a blender where they can control the RPM so it can be blended slow. If the RPM is too high you can have too much oxidation. Also, don’t throw in the whole kitchen sink of ingredients, use 1-2 fruits with salads greens and/or GreenFood powders and if you’re going to additionally use nuts or seeds or other concentrates use 1 or 2 at most.

Eating fermented foods – are they helpful and necessary?  What’s the best kind?  Fred Bisci

Fermented foods are helpful, but I don’t believe they’re necessary.  I do eat some fermented foods and they are a good form of probiotics. I would say a good kimchee and raw sauerkraut that are not too spicy would be most useful for everyone.

What are the 10 most important foods to eat? Fred Bisci

I encourage people to eat a large variety of different foods and to rotate your foods from meal to meal. The body likes variety. From a raw food perspective, I recommend a lifestyle that’s fruit (if you don’t have a problem that would preclude it), vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts and avocados. Use your juicer.  Drink wheatgrass, E3Live and put Super GreenFood powders in your juices.

FACTS: 100% Raw Living Food Lifestyle, Optimum Health, Biochemical Individual, Experienced Guidance!

Would you advocate 100% raw living food lifestyle, if so, for how many years?  Is it necessary for optimum health?   Fred Bisci

I don’t advocate one specific nutritional philosophy for everybody. I advocate the lifestyle that’s the best for each individual’s optimal health.

The only thing that I’m very specific about, that everybody that comes to me should really try to achieve first, is to give up all the processed food/stimulating food & drinks. As far as the length of time it takes to achieve optimal health, I can’t give a time on that because everybody’s a biochemical individual.  For some people, it happens very quickly.  For others, it takes years before they really feel super the way we’re capable of feeling on Your Healthy Journey.

Sometimes people on a 100% raw food lifestyle might have to use some kind of a supplement, like Super GreenFoods (Fred’s Amazing Greens) or blue-green algae (E3Live Brain-ON), plus Wheatgrass also works very well.

Is it ever too late to incorporate the Your Healthy Journey lifestyle?  Fred Bisci

No, it’s never too late.  But anybody that’s older that changes and makes a commitment to a 70% or more raw lifestyle definitely should have professional experienced guidance.  You just can’t go by the philosophical explanations you’re hearing out there on the Internet (dr google) because you could put a person into a radical remedial detox and that could be damaging and it is not the best way of living a healthy lifestyle!

Pineapples: Stable Whole Plant Food Energy Source

“Pineapples are a nutrient-dense tropical fruit that provides a ton of health benefits, yet it’s still low in overall calories!”

Fred Bisci, Your Healthy Journey

Pineapples provide minerals/vitamins, natural plant fiber, and whole sugars and have over 80 nutrients. It is a tropical fruit, naturally loaded with vitamin C, but it also contains a special anti-inflammatory called bromelain.

Pineapples have Bromelain which has long been known to contain powerful proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzymes, which are beneficial in digestive, reducing brain inflammation and many other systemic inflammations from athletic/performance activities.

Pineapples can help manage sports/event injuries and is being used to speed recovery time. Pineapples are a way for athletes to utilize plant based foods as part of their training protocol.

Pineapples are a good supply a stable whole plant food sugar energy utilization.

Pineapple is a source of the trace mineral- manganese and a good source of vitamin B1- thiamin, which are essential cofactors in a number of enzymes important in energy production and antioxidant defenses.

Pineapple contains fiber which can help to prevent constipation and will promote regularity and a healthy digestive tract.

Pineapple is a good source of the amino acid tryptophan, which is used by the body to produce serotonin, one of good mood hormones and helps support the neurological system for healthy brain function and energy.
