Can you hear the common denominator: Leave Out Processed Foods?

A lot of people don’t realize when you’re eating a bad diet, your body is kind of a garbage disposal system. The endogenous material consumed by a poor-quality lifestyle is a perfect nesting place for bacteria to grow and proliferate. Everybody sneezes on you, and you’re probably going to pick up a cold and think you have a weak immune system. If your overall system is clean, you exercise, you’re not overeating, and you’re eating the right food, people could sneeze on you all they want and you’re unlikely to get sick.

I deal with all kinds of sick people. I don’t remember the last time I had a cold. Keep your system clean, and make sure you’re moving your bowels once for every meal you eat. If you do that, and drink plenty of water, get plenty of fresh air and exercise, and try to maintain a tranquil state of mind, you’re going to have a very powerful immune system, there’s no two ways about it.

FACTS: Degenerate to a Dis-ease

Why does our Body Degenerate to a Dis-ease?    FRED BISCI

I’m a firm believer that just about all degenerative disease begins in our bowels and lymphatic system. I’ve seen it over and over. My focus is to help a person to understand how to get well by cleaning out their digestive/lymphatic system. I show them how to get their metabolism by what they leave out and a whole food plant lifestyle to work optimally and efficiently.

I have known this for many, many years that people have to realize that the body has a God-given healing capability to overcome the chronic life stages of degeneration and seek health through the physiological mechanisms within, if a person appreciates what to do and commits daily to the process.

Most people are abusing their bodies by the way they eat/drink and the routines about how they are living every day. They’re existing on junk, processed and stimulating foods. This is the standard way of eating in our country today. They’re eating all day. They’re being told to snack because snacking is good for you and that it stabilizes your blood sugar.

Blood sugar doesn’t work that way.

Many people are eating too much in general and they are eating way too much animal protein. Also, people are being told that you can’t be a healthy vegan, which is definitely not true.

Many people are eating late at night which doesn’t contribute to a healthy GI tract which in turn will overload the lymphatic system. Partying has come to mean eating and drinking to excess, and it’s definitely a precursor to the disease process, including cancer.

When you’re living that way and your GI tract is not functioning correctly, the indirect response is that your body is not breathing properly on a cellular level. Most people are in agreement now with Otto Warburg that a cancer cell is a cell that’s not getting enough oxygen and then the cell starts to try to survive on sugar through non-oxidative fermentation.

Another factor we need to understand is how enzymes are so important to the body’s biochemistry and how it is associated with longevity, fitness, cognition and performance. The human body produces approximately 3,000 metabolic enzymes. Without metabolic enzymes, you will not absorb your vitamins. They are catalysts, and every function in your body requires them.

One of the most important metabolic enzymes is the respiratory enzyme. Without respiratory enzymes, your cells will not absorb oxygen which can create a precursor to abnormal cell development. When you’re eating a junk food diet, which is very acid forming, eventually you will impair your metabolic enzymes and your body will start to utilize non-oxidative fermentation. When a cell gets to the point where 70% or 80% is thriving on fermentative non-oxidative respiration, then you’ve got a rapidly growing cancer cell.

Let’s get on the path of quality life, look for doable changes that can take the burden on the body, decide what you can do daily and ask yourself. Am I subjecting myself to a state of dis-ease and what can I do about it?

FACTS: Dis-ease

Define Disease or Dis-ease?  Fred Bisci

 

Disease is when the body is not functioning under normal healthy conditions and a person starts to feel ill at ease on a regular basis or intermittently o5taking medication to palliate some of the obvious symptoms. Simply, because they’re not addressing the cause of the problems. Dis-ease will progress and does become chronic with acute flair-ups along the way and can often lead to a degenerative or terminal condition.

The early stage of disease is really your body trying to give you a warning or a sign that something is not functioning properly. Unfortunately, many people don’t face it and wait until the symptoms are really debilitating or unavoidable.

An example of this is when start to have joint pain and, in most cases, it’s coming from eating a terrible diet that’s acid forming. That causes and builds up stress and inflammation, and eventually wears out the joints. That’s a state of disease – but when they’re taking medications and painkillers, you’re not dealing with the underlying inflammation. A person will lose their conscious sensitivity of the body’s signs of soreness, restriction of motion and end up with knee, shoulder, hip degeneration or prosthetic replacements – or developing other, or more serious conditions.

A person will have been forewarned about all these different problems as they are expressed by the body. But these messages are being ignored because most doctors just treat the symptoms, and the underlying cause is ignored until a person has to get surgery or some kind of major medical intervention. Let’s get aware and face what our body is telling us and respond!!

FACTS: Fasting

Is Fasting Beneficial? 

 

That’s a controversial question.  Years ago, water fasting was the big thing and many thought at that time, the only true fast was a water fast.  That’s basically true.  The thing about fasting is when you leave out everything but water, you’re not getting any nourishment and though it does have benefits, it also has risks, especially if you’re doing it on your own or you’re under the care of somebody that is not a good fasting supervisor.  I’ve seen a few disasters from people who were on a fast.

From my own experience in personal water fasting I’ve seen what the benefits can be, but it can also be dangerous without the proper supervision. I recommend fasting under supervision, and I no longer recommend long water fasts. I recommend that people shut down their activities completely, close their eyes throughout the day and get rest as much as you possibly can.  Don’t do anything. I did some of my fasts that way. You’re actually meditating while you’re on your fast and you are just getting up to drink water and staying down as much as you can, maybe just stretching out a little bit. They were the best fasts I ever had.

 

I know some people who did some repeated long water fasts and ran into a lot of trouble.  I did some long water fasting also, but I didn’t run into trouble because I knew what to do. I did it because I wanted to have a complete experience about fasting.  I didn’t just want to go by what I read in a book.

If you want to go on a water fast, go to a fasting retreat and get supervision from somebody reputable who’s been doing it for a long time. Check them out, make sure they’ve done a lot of good for people and have showed them how to come out of fast. It’s very important to know how to go into a fast but it is just as important to know how to come out of it and how you decide to live your lifestyle from that point forward.

FACTS: Feel-Good Food & Healing Crisis

Even very healthy people generally want some feel-good food.  Is there any you can recommend? 

If you’re talking about processed food like cake, candy, soda or ice cream, martinis, or anything like that, you’re really speaking to the wrong guy.  No, I don’t recommend any compromise into anything like that, because it just doesn’t work well.  If you want to have a feel-good food, some of the raw food recipes are actually delicious. I have been to many raw restaurants and their raw desserts are absolutely fabulous.  They make ice cream out of nuts and coconut, and some of the foods are just tremendous.  They’re 100% raw and the ingredients are organic whole food delicious. The food combination might not be the best, but they’re certainly edible. I go every once in a while, to raw vegan restaurants with Rory who works for me. We sit down and have a raw dessert and I always come back alive so I think anybody could do it.

What is a healing crisis and what can I do about it?

A healing crisis is when your body is going into a remedial process. This is when your body has the vital force to undo an unhealthy condition from what you doing in your lifestyle and something you have done in the past. When this happens, you’re going to experience some symptoms of discomfort as your body heals.  As this occurs, there’s a big difference between a healing crisis, when a person is getting better, or a chronic ailment where a person is biologically aging to degeneration. When somebody has a chronic or an acute response, the symptoms may seem almost the same. In the case of the person who has a poor-quality lifestyle that has developed into a chronic condition, the body is actually deteriorating; they may be slipping into a more serious situation.  A healing crisis, on the other hand, is when somebody has the chance to get ahead of the curve and go into a planned detox to accelerate the cleansing so their body can heal more rapidly.

 

It’s extremely important if you’re in a healing crisis that you get professional guidance and of course, rest is extremely, extremely important. I believe that rest is the ultimate healer.  When you’re resting, your body goes into an anabolic stage.  It is replacing diseased or worn out cells to remedy whatever situation you have.

FACTS: Caloric Restriction & Neighborhood Family & Friends

What my other Friend, Luigi, Valeria, and my Mom taught me about caloric restriction?      Fred Bisci

Another Caloric Restriction Journey:

I met a gentleman in my neighborhood named Luigi. We lived in a very hilly part of Staten Island and I used to see him walking through the neighborhood on a regular basis. One day I was out working in my front yard and he said “Buongiorno,” which is “good day” in Italian and we started a conversation.  I got the impression he was a little bit lonely because he kept coming back. He lived with his great-granddaughter and he’d go out walking early in the morning, and he would walk all day and talk to people until it got dark. Then he would go home and have something to eat, wait a while, and go to bed early. Luigi would talk about history and parts of Italy where he came from. Then, I started to wonder how old this man really was.  I said to him “Luigi, how old are you?”  He says “Cento quattro,” which in Italian is 104.

I was stunned and I dropped my rake on the lawn and just started talking to this guy.  I asked him what he ate and he proceeded to say in Italian that “Io non piacemangiare,” which means “I do not like to eat.”  He had this huge head of gray hair and he had all his teeth. I said, “Luigi, you got beautiful teeth.”  He says “Yeah.”  I asked him, did he brush his teeth?  He said no.  He said he cleaned his teeth with his fingers.

I asked, “What do you eat?”  He said “Verdura, salata,” which is salad – and also cooked vegetables, soup (zuppa), and “Un piccolo bicchiere di vino,” which is “a little glass of wine.”  I said “Luigi, how about meat?  Do you eat meat?”  He said “Io non piace carne.”  He did not like meat.  Sometimes he would eat beans, fagioli he’d call them.  He said he really wasn’t a pasta guy.  He liked chestnuts and he liked all other nuts.  That was it.  I asked him the big question. “Luigi, how many times a day do you eat?”  He said “Uno” which is “one.”  If anybody was on a calorically restricted lifestyle, it was my friend, Luigi.

I’ve seen other people like this.  My own mother lived to be 101.  I put her on a vegan lifestyle when she was in her 80’s.  She had a stroke at that time but she lived to be 101.  Her girlfriend Valeria Barbera lived to be 104.  She ate like a bird. I don’t think she weighed 100 pounds. I used to think she was starving when we were children because she hardly ate.  I said, “Mama, what’s wrong with Valeria?  She hardly ever eats.”  She said, “Don’t worry, Freddy, she knows what she’s doing.”  It turned out that was true.
